WHEN : 22nd October – 2nd November
WHERE : Promoseven Place, 151 George St, Brisbane

In this new object based installation, Ruth McConchie explores the links between processual and material obsessions, and the history of Promoseven Place. Completed in 1920, the building was originally designed to incorporate The State Savings Bank. Among its earlier tenants was the State Taxation Office and since then it has housed various State Government department offices. When Radio Broadcasting began in Queensland in 1925, the Queensland Radio Service and radio station 4QG worked from studios built on the roof. During the 1930’s 4QG was part of Australia’s first national radio network, the privately owned Australia Broadcasting Company Limited. This project develops from a fascination with relationship between the British and Australian accents in early ABC radio broadcasts. For Moonlighting; second circulation at The State Savings Bank McConchie re-imagines and modifies the space to create a complex dialogue between arrangements of objects, forms and interconnected spaces.
