WHERE: safARI
SafARI is calling for submissions from emerging and unrepresented artists working in diverse media across Australia to be considered for SafARI 2012. Solo artists and/or groups of one or more artists will be considered.
SafARI is the unofficial fringe exhibition to the Biennale of Sydney that began in 2004. SafARI exhibits the work of emerging and unrepresented Australian artists across multiple sites in Sydney including Artist Run Initiatives (ARIs)
and public spaces. It is timed to coincide with the crucial first opening weeks of the Biennale of Sydney in June 2012.
Successful artists for SafARI 2012 will be invited to attend a workshop in Sydney in late October 2011 in preparation for the 2012 event. The purpose of the workshop is to stretch individual artform practice and potentially seed new collaborations for SafARI 2012. The Australia Council for the Arts has supported artist attendance at this workshop through a 2011 ARI grant.
Submissions should include:
An artist statement (max 300 words)
Maximum of 7 images and/or footage
1 A4 page CV
Stamped SAE for return of material if required.
