WHEN : 12th May, 10:00am – 4:00pm
WHERE : Judith Wright Centre
Judith Wright Centre’s current Artist-In-Residence Shian Law will present a workshop focussing on the integration of multimedia and other stimulus into the development of new dance works.
Free to participate – registration complusory to info@judithwrightcentre.com
The first part of the workshop focuses on the thematic research, involving the gathering of visual, sonic and written stimulus, and analysing the thematic relevance of the participants’ projects in a broader context. The participants are encouraged to bring in their seed idea; research material or they can participate in the choreographer’s project. The following step is the creation of physical material through utilising various improvisation and choreographic tools.
The second part focuses on the creation of a choreographic system or ‘ecosystem’ in which the performance materials and thematic idea correspond creatively. The process also works on the expansion of the performance content in relation to other creative elements, such as sound, visual, set and dramaturgy.
The dancers will be on the floor working with the choreographer as well as facilitating the participants throughout the workshop.
