Since 1972, the biennial Stanthorpe Art Prize has been a beacon for artistic talent, attracting entries from across Australia. The exceptional quality of selected works underscores its esteemed position within the Australian arts community. With a $50,000 total prize pool, the Stanthorpe Art Prize is among the richest art prizes in Australia.

Prize Categories

  • $20,000 2D Stanthorpe Art Prize 2026 Award – for the most outstanding 2D artwork

  • $20,000 3D Stanthorpe Art Prize 2026 Award – for the most outstanding 3D artwork

  • $5,000 People’s Choice Award

  • $3,000 Local Artist Award – for artists residing within 100 km of Stanthorpe

  • $2,000 Ted and Daph Reeves Memorial Prize – for young artists aged 12–18 (as at 4 March 2026)

  • Jonathan McBurnie – Director, Rockhampton Regional Art Gallery

  • Wendy Sharpe – one of Australia’s most acclaimed artists, living and working in Sydney and Paris
