hard light aims to look at how reductive forms and un foreclosed aesthetics could be used as an open field to enact queer politics. Alongside this there is a focus on the performativity of large works and the idea that scale can initiate bodily relations with objects. The work takes from conversations held at the Lesbian Herstory Archives in Brooklyn, NYC in 2016.
Tayla Haggarty’s practice is fixated on exploring the complex question of how one can effectively archive queer experiences. These investigations take form through collaboration, performance, installation and sculpture. The materials used include industrial or ready-made materials that when constructed within the space, are arranged to heighten the precarious elements of tension and balance. These undertakings are often habitually minimal, site specific and use humour as a tactic to engage viewers.
