As part of the Institute of Modern Art’s 50th anniversary, this second public forum explores the IMA’s journey through the early 21st century. Titled The New Millennium: 2001 to Now, the panel will delve into the institution’s response to a rapidly evolving world shaped by Web 2.0, globalisation, social media, and identity politics.
Moderated by Sally Butler, the conversation brings together voices who shaped and witnessed the IMA’s last 25 years, including Josh Milani, Andrew McNamara, Lawrence English, Judy Watson, and Amelia Barikin. Together, they will reflect on the IMA’s impact on Queensland’s art ecology and speculate on its future.
Following the panel, iconic performances by artist Jeremy Hynes will be re-enacted by Queensland College of Art students under the direction of Justene Williams.
This free, seated event is open to all. Registration is required to attend.
