This is a call out for applications for one Exhibition Team Leader from Queensland as part of the Professional Development program for the Venice Biennale 2015. Please note that this position was formerly known as “Venue Attendant Team Leader”. This position is co-funded by Arts Queensland.
The Professional Development program is an essential part of Australia’s involvement at the Venice Biennale. The Australia Council endeavours to provide a platform for curators, arts writers and arts professionals to develop skills and deepen vocational experience. We seek to build the profile of not only the exhibiting artist, but of our vibrant Australian visual arts sector and its supporting professionals to highlight that Australian arts are without borders.
The Exhibition Team Leaders will be given the opportunity to further their experience and develop skills in gallery invigilation, education, and administration. They will also have the opportunity to contribute to the Australia Council’s Venice social media project. Exhibition Team Leaders will be responsible for the monitoring and security of the exhibition. This includes coordinating the team of Australian volunteer Exhibition Attendants, guiding groups through the exhibition, assisting VIP visitors, keeping attendance records and reporting back to the Venice Project Team in Sydney formally on a weekly basis, and also as required.
Each Exhibition Team Leader position is for a pre-determined period of five weeks over the length of the exhibition (02 May – 22 November 2015).
Note: The successful applicant will be offered this role conditionally until confirmation of Arts QLD support, expected by December 2014.
Applications will be assessed, and successful applicants notified within 4 weeks of the closing date. Successful candidates will be required to enter into a Volunteer Agreement with the Australia Council.
