Hot’n’Heinous can refer to many things, including the experience of the worst days of a typical Brisbane summer, and the characters create a portal into the imaginary world of the artist. With one-line grabs from clickbait advertising, sweetly sinister characters from bootleg cartoon imagery, and painterly passages of descriptive familiarity, Visaya’s imagery often seems like kitsch-trash commentary on our everyday values.

This exhibition is presented by Innerspace Contemporary Art and is part of the James St Series, Art Project #2 by James St Initiative, in association with the Museum of Brisbane. The James St Series is a collection of small happenings, creative conversations, get-togethers and artistic undertakings. BAD is an initiative of Museum of Brisbane and is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
