Scott Breton: Paths to the half-remembered

Deadline:

Lethbridge Gallery

Coming to the gallery this April is fine artist Scott Breton, winner of the 2016 Lethbridge 10 000. Inspired by renaissance thinking and aesthetics, Scott’s interest in contemporary classical artists is evident in his new body of work ‘Paths to the half-remembered’. His new exhibition explores a mysterious and personal landscape of the family property he grew up with.

“These paintings depict places on the family property that was selected by my great grandfather at the end of the 19th century. I grew up exploring the creeks and ridges here, going horse riding for pleasure or for mustering cattle, and later doing work such as clearing regrowth and fencing.  Nearly everywhere contains memories and associations tied up with various stages and events of my life, ranging from humorous to tragic to dangerous to blissful.  These places are, for me, filled with the ghosts of moments past.” – Scott Breton

Scott is one of the founders of Atelier Art Classes, a fine art school in Brisbane and is the cofounder of The International Arts and Culture Group in Florence, Italy.

Opening Event: 3pm – 5pm 22 April 2017
