Join us for an exclusive curatorial masterclass with Dr Felicity Fenner, curator of exhibition People Like Us.
In this masterclass Fenner will delve into finer detail about the practice of curating contemporary exhibitions. The complexities and issues that arise in contemporary curating will be examined through the lens of People Like Us. Curatorial fundamentals such as developing exhibition rationales, artist engagement and exhibition text preparation will be explored.
Fenner is a current Associate Professor in the Art and Design faculty at the University of New South Wales. Prior to this Fenner was the inaugural director of UNSW Galleries, from 2013-2018. Fenner has extensive experience in curatorial practice having curated a range of exhibitions both nationally and internationally. Selected exhibitions include Primavera 2005 at Sydney’s Museum of Contemporary Art, Handle with Care the 2008 Adelaide Biennale of Australian Art and Making Change, 2013, an exhibition curated in collaboration with Brenda Croft and Kon Gouriotis for the National Museum of China, Beijing. In 2009 Fenner was invited to curate Australia’s group exhibition, Once Removed, at the Venice Biennale.
Fenner has published widely across a number of art journals including Art in America, ARTAND (formerly Art & Australia), Eyeline, Aperture and was formerly the chief art critic of the Sydney Morning Herald.
