Stretching Space is an exhibition curated by QUT Honours student Brooke White. It is part of a greater research project that is concerned with exhibition design for contemporary art. This project aims to discover and address the curatorial problems which arise when a conventional art space seeks to contain works which are deliberately difficult to display due to their materials or dimensions.
Stretching Space is an exciting and largely experimental exhibition that aims to manage the problems and possibilities that emerge when a conventional art space is pushed to its limits by the art it contains. The outcome of the project will raise and possibly answer some important questions about the conflict between exhibition display and contemporary art.
