Marisa Veerman is a Brisbane based mixed media artist. Marisa’s work is recognised for its emotive quality fusing opaque, flowing, photographic images with earnest detail through embroidery and painterly wax. With sensitivity to her subject evident, Marisa’s purpose is to make visible the abstract human emotion as the viewer is invited to draw upon a closeness between the work and themselves. Space and rich colour transcend the subject into a quiet stillness, revealing an intimate sense of being.

Love, fear, grief, apathy, and happiness are but a few of the emotions that have shaped me.
