Renee Kire: Rearrangeable Perceptions

Deadline:

Museum of Brisbane

Museum of Brisbane presents Rearrangeable Perceptions, a large-scale installation by Brisbane-based artist Renee Kire as part of the 2026 Artist in Residence program.

Transforming the entryway of Brisbane City Hall, Kire’s immersive work spans walls and ceilings through a combination of bold vinyl graphics and sculptural timber elements. The installation creates a vibrant, directional pathway that draws visitors into the museum while reshaping how the space is experienced.

Inspired by Brisbane’s built environment and heritage architecture, the work responds directly to the forms and structures of City Hall. Kire’s practice reinterprets minimalist aesthetics through a contemporary lens, exploring colour, composition, and spatial relationships while drawing attention to overlooked narratives within art history.

Throughout the residency, visitors are invited to engage more deeply with the work through a series of public programs, including artist-led drawing tours and hands-on workshops that explore architecture, abstraction, and creative process.
