Nancy Fairfax Artist in Residence Studio

Deadline:

Deadline: May 4

The Nancy Fairfax Artist in Residence Studio is a live-in, on-site residency program designed for visual artists living and working in Australia. Set within the grounds of Tweed Regional Gallery, the residency supports creative development while fostering meaningful engagement between artist, community, and place.

The program offers a unique opportunity to work in a purpose-built studio with views to Mt Warning / Wollumbin, encouraging reflection, experimentation, and connection to the surrounding landscape.

Self-Funded Residency:
Artists can apply to undertake a subsidised residency, with studio rental fees of up to $400 per week (+ GST). This pathway is ideal for artists seeking dedicated time and space to develop their practice independently, with no requirement for an outcome exhibition or public programming.

Funded Residency:
Funded residencies are offered through invitation or specific partnerships. One annual residency is awarded to a Master of Fine Art (Painting) graduate from the National Art School, culminating in an exhibition in the Friends Gallery. Additional invited residencies are supported through philanthropic and institutional partnerships.

This residency is well-suited for artists looking to immerse themselves in a focused creative environment while being supported by a respected regional gallery context.
