A hum in the dark.
Presented by Metro Arts and Brisbane Festival, Choral Cthonics is a world-premiere exhibition exploring the voice as instrument, threshold and collective force.
Bringing together work by Dean Ansell, Cicadas (Maria Molina & Celeste Ricci), CAConrad, Léuli Eshrāghi, Mikhail Karikis, Jazz Money and Tina Stefanou, the exhibition moves across sound, installation and text.
Through chanting, choral singing, murmurs and drones, the artists explore breath, voice and language as forms of connection and shifting perception. The works consider voice not only as communication, but as vibration, ritual, embodied knowledge and a force that can move beyond the individual body.
Part of NIGHT MOVES, a Brisbane Festival program exploring what we keep hidden in our darkest corners, Choral Cthonics invites audiences into an atmosphere of collective intensity, dark sublimity and proximity to the natural and unruly world around us.
