Catherine Parker: It’s (still) a Beautiful World

Deadline:

Spiro Grace Art Rooms

Catherine Parker‘s exhibition It’s (still) a Beautiful World explores a cross-cultural narrative in mixed-media paintings. Trekking across the globe submersing herself in the day-to-day lives of the locals, Parker’s works highlight the rich narratives of these environments and cultures. The works transverse physical space as Parker draws influence from India, her studio in magnetic island and her travels throughout Australia.

The It’s (still) a Beautiful World  series gives rise to peripheral site with vast spaces and highly detailed fragments lining the outer edges of the canvas. Resisting a central focal point the work immerses the audience in an active viewing experience. This space between transforms into expansive oceans or skies surrounded by wondrous highly detailed floating worlds.

Parker’s paintings explore the intricacies within the vastness of physical and spiritual space, depicting worlds where all things are interconnected.
