Mina Mina Maranoa: Sandhills, Salt Lakes & Soakages

1st Feb - 1st March

WHEN : 1st Feb – 1st March
WHERE : Fireworks Gallery

FireWorks Gallery’s first exhibition for 2013 will feature new works by three major Indigenous Australian artists: Dorothy Napangardi, Judy Watson Napangardi & Joanne Currie Nalingu.

The exhibition will explore contrasting visual approaches to each artist’s country or homeland. Dorothy’s and Judy’s new paintings respectively portray the sacred salt site of Mina Mina, yet in entirely opposing ways – Dorothy choosing a monochromatic palette & dot style, whilst Judy selecting a myriad of electric colours & shapes. Award-winning artist Joanne Currie Nalingu also features new paintings in her renowned ‘river lines’ style, inspired by the Maranoa River at Mitchell where she grew up.
