The winners of the $50,000 Stanthorpe Art Prize 2026 have been announced, with KHR Stewart awarded the $20,000 2D Prize for Dollface, an oil painting praised by judge Wendy Sharpe as “a striking dream-like image, both meticulous and mysterious.”
The $20,000 3D Prize was awarded to Keith Burt for Inquiet, a painted plaster sculpture recognised for its innovative fusion of painting and sculpture. The Local Artist Award went to Karen Johns for her watercolour The Tree and Me, while Sayuni Wickramasinghe received the Ted and Daph Reeves Memorial Prize for Young Artists for Commute.
The finalist exhibition remains on display at Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery until 23 August, showcasing contemporary painting, sculpture and works on paper from artists across Australia.
