The Institute of Modern Art welcomes acclaimed curator and art historian Daria de Beauvais for a special presentation exploring the role of artists as historians.
As Senior Curator and Head of International Relations at Palais de Tokyo, de Beauvais has shaped the international art scene through exhibitions that intertwine aesthetics, politics, memory and overlooked histories.
In this talk, she will examine how artists engage with history as a dynamic and contested field rather than a fixed narrative. Drawing on recent exhibitions by Thảo Nguyên Phan, Raphaël Barontini, Lívia Melzi and Jonathan Jones, de Beauvais will discuss how artistic practices use research, memory and visual storytelling to uncover overlooked episodes of the past and construct alternative narratives.
Her curatorial practice is grounded in ethics and care, with a particular focus on ecology, Indigeneity, hybrid identities and transgenerational dialogue.
Registration is essential for this free event.
Date: Sunday 24 May 2026, 2:00pm – 3:00pm
