Join the Institute of Modern Art for the launch of the latest issue of Town Hall, alongside a thought-provoking panel discussion asking a critical question: Are the arts for everyone?
Following an earlier session with major institutional leaders, this second panel brings together leading thinkers in art history and cultural studies, including Susan Best (Griffith University), Simon During (University of Queensland), and Andrew McNamara (QUT).
Together, they will explore questions around access, inclusion, and cultural value in the arts:
- Who is the arts sector really for?
- Do artists create for a universal audience?
- How is populism shaping contemporary art?
- Why are the humanities facing ongoing challenges?
The event also celebrates the fifth issue of Town Hall, the IMA’s free biennial newspaper. This issue features a diverse range of content, from reflections on William Robinson’s legacy, to profiles of Seren Wagstaff and Sancintya Mohini Simpson, and an interview with Jon Rafman.
