Deadline:

Institute of Modern Art

In their Jeremy Hynes Award presentation, Lu Forsberg will probe our psychologically distanced relationship to mining and the Earth. In their presentation, Forsberg will take viewers on a virtual birds-eye tour of Bauxite mining locations scattered across Western Australia, the Northern Territory and Northern Queensland.

Brisbane-based artist, Forsberg, graduated with a BFA (Visual Arts) honours from the Queensland University of Technology in 2016.

Join us for the closing event of Forsberg’s presentation Saturday, 7 October, 4–6pm. The work can be viewed in the IMA Gallery Shop 3–7 October.

Since 2009, the IMA has had the honour of presenting the award to an experimental Queensland artist in the earlier stages of their career, made possible by a bequest made by the family of Jeremy Hynes in his name. The 2017 shortlist artists Lu Forsberg, Michael Candy, Elizabeth Willing, and Naomi Blacklock will be presenting projects and events throughout October. The recipient of this years’ award is to be announced at IMA’s Annual Party on Saturday, 28 October.
