Institute of Modern Art

Driven by an interest in foraging for edible and medicinal ingredients, in her Jeremy Hynes Award presentation Elizabeth Willing invites participants to share in a multi-sensory event employing the use of plant-based sedatives. Willing has collaborated with mixologist Aidan Beiers to provide an experiential cocktail for attendees.

Willing has held solo exhibitions and dining performances in Australia and overseas at Tolarno Galleries Melbourne, Kunstlerhaus Bethanien Berlin, and Gallery of Modern Art Brisbane.

See a work by Willing between 17–21 October and join us for a cocktail Saturday, 21 October.

Jeremy Hynes Award:

Since 2009, the IMA has had the honour of presenting the award to an experimental Queensland artist in the earlier stages of their career, made possible by a bequest made by the family of Jeremy Hynes in his name. The 2017 shortlist artists Lucy Forsberg, Michael Candy, Elizabeth Willing, and Naomi Blacklock will be presenting projects and events throughout October. The recipient of this years’ award is to be announced at IMA’s Annual Party on Saturday, 28 October.
