In four years, Sarah Hickey has held eight solo shows and participated in twenty-two group shows. A recent Curvy magazine featured artist, Hickey has taken out the WLS Sponsors Award at the Art from the HeART, and finished finalist in The Mandorla Art Award, Marie Ellis OAM Drawing Prize, Clayton Utz Art Award and the $20,000 Metro Pearls Competi
tion. Hickey’s work has also recently been chosen as the brand identity for Barossa Belle wines.
Tabernacle of Skin explores the idea of body as tabernacle; the body as a residence or dwelling place for a divine presence. Part Indian goddess, part Russian icon; these embellished deities are earnest in their attempt to capture something of an inner soul or life force.
