WHERE : Spiro | Grace Art Rooms, 255 Gregory Terrace, Spring Hill.

MADE continues SGAR’s ongoing commitment to contributing to the international dialogue surrounding the emergence of design/art. This exhibition features one off or limited edition works by selected Australian designer/artists:

KT Doyle (QLD)

KT Doyle’s innovative range of sustainable textiles, wallpaper and prints sit at the intersection of art and design. With an intuitive focus on pattern, form and precise detail she often removes the element of colour as the emphasis point, to create design/art artefacts that are timeless and refined.

Matt Dwyer (QLD)

Matt Dwyer makes sculptural forms such as jewellery, lighting and functional objects, drawing on a familial joy of fashioning objects and the theme of memory. His new work investigates the forgotten historical artefacts associated with adornment, ritual and vanity.

Cinnamon Lee (NSW)

Cinnamon Lee is an Australian metalsmith specialising in contemporary jewellery and custom lighting, exploring the decorative potential of new technologies in conjunction with traditional silversmithing techniques, to produce objects that engage with the intersection between machine and hand made.

Stuart Williams (TAS)

Stuart Williams’ creative practice is essentially about finding a sense of place within the contemporary urban landscape. Working primarily in the medium of timber, he creates artefacts that seek to engage his audience in a moment of wonderment, a conceptual concern that is difficult to fulfil in a time of technological advancement and mass production.

Susan Lincoln (QLD)

Susan Lincoln explores an ongoing interest in the use of form and light to tell socio-cultural narratives of how death is perceived and responded to in contemporary society. Susan employs light as a medium to give life to inanimate objects constructed from materials that have the ability to transmit, reflect and refract light.

Exhibition continues until 26th November 2011. Thursday to Saturday 11-3pm or by appointment
