Birdcage of the Bay is a recreation of the St Helena prison stockade, using plans from the collection of the Queensland State Archives and other historical sources to show the extent of the prison establishment and its myriad of prisoner stories. From unique island records and objects through to discoveries and a virtual reality recreation, this exhibition is an opportunity to catch glimpses of life at the St Helena Island Prison beyond the walls of the visitor box.
The exhibition is open 9am-4.30pm Monday-Friday and the second Saturday of each month at Queensland State Archives, 435 Compton Road, Runcorn 4113.
