Beth Mitchell: No Land In Sight

Deadline:

26 August
-
September 20
Lethbridge Gallery

There are new elements in this collection of works. It encapsulates raw, explorative self portraiture, which was a new avenue for Mitchell in the last 12 months due to COVID. It draws on both traditional digital photographic techniques as well as more complex digital techniques. It explores a myriad of emotion, from the searching for inner peace, through to the turbulent state of mind. There are also digital collage “still life” works which speak to an impeding environmental decline society is facing.

“My work utilises water to explore contemporary feminine stories. Screaming in a crosscurrent, there’s a deep yearning to contribute constructively to the future for women and our planet. Equally, I long to escape the noise of our hostile social, political & environmental landscape to find peace. Both drive me to create.”
