ONE.5C is an exhibition by Yanni Van Zijl that explores humans’ relationships with their actions and the consequences that follow. Van Zijl takes an environmentalist approach, citing concerns of fire, flood, drought and climate change as driving forces of their practice. These concerns inform material decisions with the artist stating: “sadly there is no shortage of material to make work regarding humans impact on the planet. Nature offers wonder, excitement, beauty and intellect. How can I not make work in defence of preserving what in essence preserves us?”
