Michael Stiegler’s small spaces exhibition at Side Gallery showcases a confluence of his distinctive illustrations, paintings, and collages. Inspired by many sources, including his former New York apartment, hotel notepads, and renowned art institutions, including The Met and Gagosian, Michael eloquently reimagines the inspiration for his figurative characters and illustrations. These sources first captivated him while living and working in the Lower East Side of NYC.

The small spaces exhibition explores a harmonious amalgamation of illustrations, paintings, and collage works, converging to reflect his unique graphic style and aesthetic. Each piece contributes to understanding a profound connection uniting every element and subject within Michael’s artworks. These elements combine to depict a unique and beautiful glimpse of one man’s essential processing of the fast-paced world around him. Michael draws a profound study of place and people through this body of work; through his discerning eye and creative practice, he grants an intimate insight into his interpretation of the world, casting light on the essence of each locale and its inhabitants.
