mind, matter, thoughts on form traverses the field between didactic text-based art and formally driven abstraction. Each of the fourteen artists is situated between these traditionally opposite poles, on a spectrum of visual languages that the exhibition celebrates. Here, a diversity of scale, gesture, form, and sequence is privileged as a strategy of visual communication.

The exhibition aims to make visual the unseen thought processes artists use to express their ideas through their respective methodologies, plotting a web of artistic agency and contemporary visions of materiality and making. Brought into conversation through thematic commonalities, mind, matter, thoughts on form explores the common ground between the two distinct genres of abstraction and text-based art.

Artists: Darren Blackman, Joe Camara, Max Conley, Mia Gribbin, Stella Haycock, Matt Hurdle, Sam Leighton, Michael Louttit, Col Mac, Ally McKay, Annika Meston, Shannon O’Hara, Ebony Wilmott, and Nadya Wilson.
