Mitchell Fine Art

Collaborative exhibitions featuring the works of six acclaimed artists will be shown in a two-part exhibition at Mitchell Fine Art in Fortitude Valley and Fireworks Gallery in Bowen Hills.

Curated by Nina Shadforth, Senior Curator Caloundra Regional Gallery, Land Holds Memory is a group exhibition of works that reflect on the experiences of walking, listening, and creating in the landscape.

Previously shown at the Caloundra Regional Gallery, the exhibition showcases five artists, one researcher and one musician.

Land Holds Memory is realised in the paintings, drawings, recordings and writings of artists Peter Hudson, Joanne Currie Nalingu, Joe Furlonger, Pat Hoffie and Euan Macleod, musician Kev Carmody and researcher Dr Lisa Chandler.

The primarily plein air works are responses to a series of field trips to the Bunya Mountains, Girraween National Park, and Carnarvon Gorge in Queensland – sites that are resonant with multilayered geological, ecological, and human histories.

The collaborative commercial exhibition between Caloundra Regional Gallery, Mitchell Fine Art, Fireworks Gallery, and Bruce Heiser Projects will see the works from the exhibition available across two gallery spaces, with each artists works showing in both gallery spaces.

The exhibition is showing at Mitchell Fine Art in Fortitude Valley from 15th March and Fireworks Gallery in Bowen Hills from 21st March.

On Saturday 23 March, an afternoon of Artist Talks, and Opening Events will be held at Mitchell Fine Art from 1 – 3pm and then at Fireworks Gallery 3 – 5pm.

The exhibition is showing at Mitchell Fine Art, 86 Arthur Street Fortitude Valley until 15 April.

Art lovers can sign up to the gallery’s mailing list via the website to receive information on exhibitions and events or follow the gallery on Facebook and Instagram.

The gallery is open 6 days a week from Monday to Friday 10am to 5.30pm and Saturday 10am until 5pm, with onsite parking available.
