We are pleased to present Lucid Garden, a luminous new solo exhibition by Taryn Ossowski, marking her debut with the gallery. In this meditative and richly textured body of work, Taryn invites viewers into a world where colour and spirit meet—where earthy tones and radiant translucency evoke alternate dimensions and intuitive sensation.
Working with traditional hake and calligraphy brushes, Taryn applies raw mineral pigments in layered, gestural strokes, drawing on East Asian mark-making traditions. The resulting paintings shimmer with subtle movement, revealing floral forms, glowing textures, and deep natural rhythms. Her expressive visual language reflects an intimate connection with nature and a reverence for the spiritual in the material.
Rooted in a multidisciplinary practice, Taryn’s approach is shaped by her background in art therapy, mysticism, and world arts. She holds a Master of World Arts Heritage (BTU Germany) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (UNSW Sydney). In 2023, she completed the Saruya Artist Residency in Fujiyoshida, Japan, and has exhibited in Sydney and Melbourne. Her work is held in private collections.
Artist Statement:
“This body of work emerged from a deep wrestle and ongoing exploration, an attempt to engage with raw pigments in experimental, often unpredictable ways… Through this process, I move closer to what truly inspires me: the quiet presence of spirit infused in matter, the rhythms, colours, and patterns found in nature, and the sense of interconnection with a larger cosmic order.” – Taryn Ossowski
