Kitty Horton: Auto Poem

Deadline:

17 July
-
July 25
Side Gallery

In Auto Poem, Kitty Horton presents a new body of abstract work shaped by the rhythms of daily life, studio practice, and motherhood. Using oil paint, oil stick, beeswax, and tape, Horton explores abstraction as both a process and a release—allowing intuitive gestures to shape her compositions. Balancing saturated tones with soft pastels, and rough marks with smooth surfaces, the works express a constant tension between control and letting go.

Rooted in the sensation of moving through life on autopilot, the exhibition reflects a visual language born from routine, reflection, and resilience. Drawing on influences from Tony Tuckson and Sally Gabori, Horton’s practice fuses gestural mark-making with personal symbolism, creating a rich sensory field of colour, movement, and texture.

Auto Poem captures the quiet catharsis of making—where each artwork becomes a timestamp of emotional and creative presence.
