Brisbane Institute of Art’s Metcalfe Gallery presents Treble Treble, a group exhibition featuring the work of Sally Cox, Barbara Penrose, and Nameer Davis.
Responding to their immediate surroundings through painting, the three artists collectively explore themes of doubt and presence, drawing on Descartes’ maxim: “I doubt, therefore I think, therefore I am.”In our current exhibition Treble Treble we hope to amplify the silent doubtful space of painting, bringing into play surprises emanating from this one world we have.
Each artist embraces painting as a dialogue between chance, decision, and responsiveness to the moment, creating works that invite viewers into spaces of uncertainty, possibility, and discovery.
