The John Villiers Outback Art Prize is one of regional Queensland’s leading visual arts awards, celebrating creative excellence and artistic responses to the distinctive spirit, people, and landscape of the Australian Outback.
Hosted by the Outback Regional Gallery at the Waltzing Matilda Centre in Winton, the prize welcomes artists from across Australia to submit up to three original works in any visual art medium. The competition fosters diverse interpretations of outback life, environment, and identity through painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, and mixed media.
Artists are invited to submit entries online via the official entry portal. To apply, entrants must create an account, complete the applicant form, upload up to three artworks, and make payment via bank transfer.
