Kim Wilson: Luxury

Deadline:

Mitchell Fine Art

Brisbane-based artist Kim Wilson returns to Mitchell Fine Art with her second solo exhibition, Luxury, a mesmerising body of work that honours the intricate beauty of the natural world while confronting the urgent reality of its fragility.

Combining realism and surrealism, Wilson draws viewers into intimate, richly detailed scenes that foreground often-overlooked elements of nature—inviting us to see beyond the surface. In her works, the lines between what we know and what we feel about the environment begin to blur, as familiar forms take on a more ominous tone that points to ecological imbalance.

Wilson’s paintings are inspired by her extensive travels to remote regions across the globe—including Northern Russia, sub-Antarctic Islands, Africa, Canada, and small island nations in the Indian, Pacific, and Atlantic Oceans. Through her art, she urges us to pause, reflect, and take responsibility for the damage inflicted upon our planet.

“Caring for our planet is not optional; it is intrinsic to our survival.”

An opening event with the artist will take place on Friday 21 November, 6–8pm. All events are free, and no RSVP is required.
