MONO 17: David Grubbs

The IMA and Room 40 are pleased to present a concert and a lecture by artist and musician David Grubbs. For over twenty years, Grubbs has left an indelible impact on music and art. 

Grubbs is an Associate Professor in the Conservatory of Music at Brooklyn College, CUNY, where he teaches MFA programs in Performance and Interactive Media Arts (PIMA), and Creative Writing. As a recording artist, Grubbs has released twelve solo albums and appeared on more than 150 commercially released recordings. As well as being a member of the revered groups Gastr del Sol, Bastro and Squirrel Bait, he has performed with Red Krayola, Will Oldham, Tony Conrad, Pauline Oliveros, and Loren Connors, among many others. Grubbs’ work as been presented at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York; MoMA, New York; Tate Modern, London; and the Centre Pompidou, Paris. Grubbs is a contributing editor in music for BOMB magazine, directs the Blue Chopsticks record label and is a member of ISSUE Project Room’s Board of Directors.

On Thursday, 21 August, at 7pm, Grubbs will perform an intimate concert at the IMA, the only venue in Brisbane on his tour. The event is by donation and free for IMA members. Find out more →
