This September Milani Gallery will be presenting an exhibition of works by Yuriyal Eric Bridgeman and Haus Yuriyal. Haus Yuriyal consists of thirty-plus members formed in 2015 after the construction of a round house in the Waghi Valley, Jiwaka Province with members primarily from the extended Yuri tribe of the southern Simbu district of Gumine in the Papua New Guinean highlands.
In Gallery 1 Haus Yuriyal will be exhibiting a series of natural pigment paintings on paper made in Papua New Guinea. In Gallery 2 Yuriyal Eric Bridgeman will be presenting a series of paintings and kuman (shields) and in Gallery 3 will be a recent video work.
An exhibition event will be hosted at the gallery on Saturday 16 September to coincide with Papua New Guinean Independence Day. More information will follow.
