‘there is me somewhere’ is a collection of works that explore the relationship between the self as subject and object, and how this tension can be manipulated by the artist themselves in order to challenge the notions of autonomy.
Intrigued by the distance that exists following processes of self-imposed objectification, Sloane reconsiders the body divided. Positioning discomfort and awkwardness as specific experiences for separation and self-rejection, Sloane explores how a reinvestment in the self as an object can allow for healing of the subjective self. Through a drawing and painting practice, Sloane seeks to rediscover autonomy in a body lost to the image.
You’ll have the chance to view their work and chat with the artist. The bar will be open from 6pm, and drinks can be purchased with all proceeds supporting House Conspiracy.
