This June, artisan presents a diverse program of hands-on creative workshops at the State Library of Queensland, offering participants the opportunity to learn new skills, connect with local makers, and explore contemporary craft practices.
From crochet and ceramics to textile repair, jewellery making, sewing, and sculpture, the workshops are designed for a range of experience levels, from complete beginners through to intermediate makers. Led by experienced artists and craftspeople, each session provides practical guidance while encouraging creativity, sustainability, and skill development.
Workshop highlights include learning intermediate crochet techniques with Millie Radovic, hand-building ceramic mugs with D H Makers, creating custom bag charms and earrings with Kimi Schieren, and sculpting with epoxy clay under the guidance of Carolyn V Watson.
The program also features the Mending Matters series, which explores sustainable textile practices through clothing repair, creative mending, and traditional Japanese Boro techniques with Laura Griffiths and Practice Studio.
Whether you’re looking to develop an existing craft practice or simply try something new, the artisan workshop series offers an engaging way to learn directly from Queensland makers.
