On August 1st, SoFA continues its productive association with Diagram, with the latest installment of the Salon entitled Image World. Supported by UQAM, the evening will involve a panel discussion about the visual artists whose work will be exhibited in the gallery, and how each deals with the hyper-visual nature of contemporary culture.
The panel, which will be chaired by Dhana Merritt (Gallery Manager at the IMA), includes Daniel McKewen (artist represented by Milani Gallery with a Doctorate in Philosophy from QUT), Ellie Buttrose (Assistant Curator of International Contemporary Art, QAG/GOMA) and three emerging artists: Jared Worthington (co-founder of Diagram), Llewellyn Millhouse and Sarah Byrne.
Beginning at 6pm, audience members will be invited to familiarize themselves with the work of the featured artists, before the three senior panelists launch into a discussion of the theme “image world” in relation to the work of the emerging artists. Image World promises to be a thought-provoking night and is a great opportunity to engage with current issues in contemporary art.
